Reviews

What your listeners are saying on Apple Podcasts — ratings, trends, and the reviews themselves.

What this page is for

Reviews are the most direct feedback you get, and on Apple Podcasts they also feed into how discoverable your show is. Reviews collects them in one place and shows you the trend, not just the latest handful.

Reach it from Explore → Reviews in the top nav.

The summary tiles

  • Total Reviews — how many reviews you've received.
  • Average Rating — your mean score out of 5.
  • Countries — how many countries your reviewers come from, which is a useful proxy for where your show is actually reaching.

Review trends

The chart plots how your reviews and ratings have accumulated over time.

Two things this view is genuinely good at:

  • Spotting a turning point. If your average rating shifts in a particular month, that's worth investigating — something about that stretch of episodes landed differently.
  • Seeing momentum. A flat stretch means listeners aren't motivated to review. A steep climb usually follows a specific episode that struck a nerve.

The star distribution

Alongside the trend you'll see how your ratings break down across the five star levels. This matters more than the average on its own:

  • Mostly 5s with a few 1s — normal and healthy. Some people review only to complain.
  • A cluster of 3s — the interesting one. Middling reviews often contain the most actionable, specific feedback.
  • A sudden pile of 1s — check the dates against your episodes. It's usually a single divisive episode, not a decline in quality.

Recent Reviews

The list at the bottom shows the individual reviews, newest first, with the reviewer's name, rating, country, and the full text.

Read these for the specifics — the exact words listeners use about your show are also the words to use in your show description and episode titles.

What you can and can't do here

PodAnalyst reads reviews from Apple Podcasts; it doesn't let you reply to them or moderate them. To respond to a reviewer, use Apple Podcasts Connect directly.

You also can't download reviews as a CSV yet — there's no export button on this page. See How to read the CSVs for what you can export.

Getting there from here

  • Ask Iris to summarise what listeners are saying about a particular topic or episode. She reads the review text, not just the ratings.
  • Compare against a rival's ratings volume — see Competition.
